A troupe of comedians returns to the place of their childhood, staging a show for the local audience. As the artists perform tricks of wonder and illusionism, memories of the past come to light and a beloved childhood companion appears again: the spirit of the Little Man. True magic occurred.
Childhood of a Magician is a theatre workshop for children that took them on a journey from foundational body and voice work to the staging of a live play and the creation of a short film.
Guided by themes and texts from Herman Hesse's Kindheit des Zauberers and H.C. Andersen's The Nightingale, the course helped participants explore the possibilities of a body in action, find freedom through singing, and discover the play of rhythms. It also cultivated the overcoming of small fears and the use imagination as seed of creativity.
The workshop was a collaboration with Teatro della Pioggia in Siena.
